TODO Streams

There is always more to do.

Every waking hour is one tempting you to tackle your never-ending todo list.
You know that by spending just 1hr now you would finish this or that.
”Finishing” your todo list feels so close, yet never achievable.

Aim for a todo stream instead.

A “list” feels finite and is handled as such.
You try to push through it to “be over, feel a sense of achievement, and relax”.
A stream is seen as never-ending by nature.
Instead of finishing, you focus on handling the infinite stream without being overwhelmed.

You go from
”How can I finish everything I have to do?“
to
”What should I focus on today from this infinite stream?”

The stream being infinite is the norm, and you stop fighting it.

I first saw the idea in this “Rest in Motion” blog post referenced by Ben Kuhn in his amazing time management post.
